Did you know April is Stress Awareness month? Self-care means giving the world the best of you instead of what is left of you. Sometimes we all need a little reminder that it’s ok to take a break. We’re all human. We’re imperfect. We have a story with ups and downs. We rise, and we fall. We all experience stress. It does not mean we are incapable of success or happiness.
I took a little hiatus last week to focus on me and catch up on 💤. Not only do I run the blog as a Stylizt, I also juggle two other careers, all of which I love and am passionate about. Working three different professions and trying to excel in each, maintain all my relationships, social life, drink enough water, exercise, text everyone back, stay sane, survive and be happy can be so overwhelming sometimes. Does anyone else feel my pain as well? 🙋🏻 #thestruggleisreal
Being overly ambitious, a workaholic and a perfectionist, I was getting so burnt out sacrificing sleep, my sanity and quality of life just to ensure I was on top of everything. Not only until the engine I was running on crashed and burned and long conversations with my bffs did I realize I was overworked and needed to hit the brakes. Some days I feel like Superwoman and other days I feel like I’m failing at life. I’m far from perfect. I’m insecure sometimes. I stress myself out and give myself anxiety. I work too much yet I also feel like don’t work enough. I’m just a girl with ambitions trying to juggle it all.
Adulting is rough sometimes. The older I get, I feel like life gets busier and there is not enough time in the day to complete my to-do list. Things pile on and the next thing you know you are behind then the feeling of incompetence kicks in. Being on all the time is so draining. I know I put a lot of pressure on myself to keep it all together but as I was reminded, it’s ok if I don’t. I survived the day and sometime that’s more than enough.
So, I want to remind you that you are not alone. Remember to take some personal time to unwind and reset. Stop worrying about what others think because it doesn’t matter what they think. Do YOU as everything will still be there when you come back. You deserve it!
I feel fully recharged and refueled. I can’t wait to slay the week and get back on track.
