Hi lovers! I have missed you. Recently, I checked off an item off my bucketlist! Rent a convertible and cruise down the Pacific Coast Highway!
Route 1 was such a beautiful drive. I highly recommend it as it was quite relaxing; we didn’t have any agenda in mind except a few target places to see but if we didn’t hit it, no biggie. That’s the best kind of vacation, right? It’s always better to plan a few attractions you want to see when traveling so you don’t waste too much time doing research wherever you are so you can really maximize your time exploring. While you’re traveling, it’s always fun to talk to locals and people you meet along the way to get recommendations that you would not find elsewhere. I personally love visiting spots locals recommend because it’s not typically jammed packed with tourists and hole in the wall places are always the best finds.
It was a quick trip so I did not pack too much. Quite frankly, I did not pack enough clothes…was in a hurry and really just threw a bunch of stuff together and styled the items I did bring different ways to create different looks along the trip.
Traveling through the airport should be quick and easy. I love traveling in comfortable clothes such as a t-shirt and jeans so I can walk right through security. I always have a hoodie on me as well since I always get cold on the plane. Even though it is summer, I threw on a beanie to hide my bedhair; leaving at 6am, I was definitely still not awake. #notamorningperson

We rented a Camero, which was so FUN to drive! I hate rolling down the windows normally because my hair flies everywhere and gets so knotty (#girlprobz) but being in a convertible threw everything out the window, literally. Tossed my hair up in a bun, took the top down, blasted the music up and nothing else mattered except where we were gong to eat! #alwayshungry #skinnyfatkid Something about being on a roadtrip, I ate so much beef jerky. Raise your hand if you agree! 🙋🏻
Started in San Francisco and drove down to Santa Cruz. Hung out on the boardwalk and had the BEST king crab legs at Firefish Grill. They were so big and juicy and costed more then any entree I have ever ordered but was worth every penny!

Afterwards, we drove to Monterey Bay and checked into our room at the Marriott to freshen up. Drove to Carmel for the evening. It was such a cute little town with art, shops and restaurants. Had dinner at Il Tegamino…excellent Italian food! I wanted to have a photoshoot in the charming courtyard. They sat us next to the heater and it was perfect as it was a little chilly at night. We ordered the Burrata Caprese and Paccheri al Ragú Napoletano, their signature dish. 👌 They served their bread with olive oil and mushrooms which was quite tasty. Topping it off with a bottle of cabernet was icing on the cake. For dessert, we visited Carmel Bakery around the corner for macaroons, eclairs and ice cream.
Slept in for the first time in awhile and started our drive back down to Los Angeles. Every turn along on the PCH was picturesque so anytime we saw a place we wanted to take a photo we pulled over to take the scenery in. Our planet is beyond beautiful. Mother Earth is so breathtaking…staring into the depths of the ocean wondering when it will ever drop off or what even lies out deep at sea amazes me! It was foggy that day so at certain parts of the drive, it felt like we were driving on cloud 9.

Driving through Big Sur and the Redwoods was gorgeous. You hear about it all the time but to see it in person was majestic. The smell of redwoods is so refreshing and really puts you at ease. Reminds me of Tahoe. We stopped at Big Sur Bakery for lunch and ordered their summer salad and chai. Bought their infamous sable cookies to take home.

Next stop was Pfeiffer Beach then Pismo Beach which was highly recommended by a local we met at the airport. Had dinner at Oyster Loft and it was hands down one of the best meals I have ever eaten. We ordered oysters, ceviche, orange glazed octopus and black cod. The octopus was my favorite! Wish we ordered dessert but we were so full! The restaurant is located at the very end of the strip with beachfront and oceans views to take in sunset.
After dinner, we had a three hour drive back home to LA. I hope you enjoyed my first travel guide! Do you want to see more of my travels? If you have any questions, leave me a comment below.
Thank you for stopping by!
xx, Lizz
